Chabad House; Monroe

Chabad House of Monroe, founded in 2002, is dedicated to the re-establishment and strengthening of the Judaic faith, principles, identity, commitment and pride within the Jewish Community of Monroe Township.

Chabad House is one of 3,300 branches of the worldwide Chabad-Lubavitch movement. Chabad-Lubavitch is considered to be the most dynamic force in Jewish life today.

The word "Chabad" is a Hebrew acronym for the three intellectual faculties of: Chachmah-wisdom, Binah-comprehension and Da'at-knowledge. The movement's system of Jewish religious philosophy, the deepest dimension of G-d's Torah, teaches understanding and recognition of the Creator, the role and purpose of Creation, and the importance and unique mission of each Creature. This philosophy guides a person to refine and govern his and her every act and feeling through wisdom, comprehension and knowledge.

The word "Lubavitch" is the name of the town in White Russia where the movement was based for more than a century. Appropriately, the word Lubavitch in Russian means the "city of brotherly love". The name Lubavitch conveys the essence of the responsibility and love engendered by the Chabad philosophy toward every single Jew.

Chabad House of Monroe is both a synagogue and an outreach center, taking care of not only the spiritual needs of the Jewish community, but the social needs as well. Under the direction of Rabbi Yehuda Spritzer, Chabad House offers weekly classes in Jewish studies, holiday programs, counseling, and a Hebrew School for children. Chabad also runs the very popular Chabad Bistro, a weekly lunch program serving delicious food at affordable prices.

Rabbi Spritzer is a graduate of the Chabad Yeshiva in France, and the Central Chabad Yeshiva at Chabad Headquarters. In addition to being the Rabbi and Director of Chabad House of Monroe, he is also and a Prison Chaplain for New Jersey State Prison. "Here at Chabad House we are honored to be partnered with The Bank of Princeton, since March of 2011. It is the Bank of Princeton's commitment to the community of Monroe Twp. that first attracted us, and it is their outstanding personal service that gives us the confidence for a bright and productive future together."
